Chapter 10 - A World Full of Music

Six months later.
The grand auditorium of the Bellhaven Center for the Performing Arts was filled to capacity for the annual Whitmore Foundation Concert. But this year, the focus was entirely different. The foundation had been overhauled, dedicated entirely to funding genuine, independent pediatric audiology research and protecting vulnerable children.
In the front row sat Logan Pierce, wearing a tailor-made suit that fit his broad shoulders perfectly. beside him sat his son, Ethan.
On stage, beneath the soft warm spotlights, stood eight-year-old Layla Whitmore.
She wore a bright yellow dress. Behind her, a youth orchestra sat ready with their violins and cellos.
Layla stepped up to the microphone. She looked out into the vast audience, spotted Logan and Ethan, and offered a bright, confident wave. Then her eyes rested on her mother, who sat beside Logan, holding her breath with pride.
Layla adjusted the microphone. Her speech was clean, clear, and filled with vibrant, innocent joy.
“Hello everyone,” Layla’s voice echoed beautifully across the auditorium.
The audience held its breath.
“My name is Layla,” she said, smiling brightly. “And tonight... I want to play you my favorite song.”
Layla turned to the grand piano on stage. She sat down, adjusted her seat, and placed her small hands upon the ivory keys.
She pressed the first note. The rich, golden sound resonated through the hall, flying straight into her ears—clear, crisp, and unfiltered.

Vanessa leaned her head gently against Logan’s shoulder as the music filled the room. Logan reached down, wrapping his large, reassuring hand around hers.
Layla closed her eyes, listening to every note she played, finally living in a world full of music, light, and love.
