Chapter 7 - The Gathering Storm

Three weeks later, the war reached its breaking point.
Vincent had relocated Isabelle to a private, heavily hidden estate on the secluded shores of Lake Michigan. The location was known only to Dominic and Dr. Harrison. However, Don Falcone, desperate and facing total collapse as Vincent systematically destroyed his financial networks across the city, rallied his remaining mercenaries for one final, suicide assault on the lake house.
A severe winter storm raged outside, pounding the shoreline with freezing rain and howling winds. Inside the lake house's reinforced basement medical bay, Isabelle suddenly gasped, clutching her lower abdomen as a sharp, agonizing contraction seized her body.
"Vincent!" she gasped, her knuckles turning white as she gripped the side of the bed.
Dr. Harrison rushed over, examining the monitors. "Her water has broken! The stress and storm pressure have triggered premature labor. She's eight months along—we have to deliver these babies now!"
At that exact moment, the house security alarm blared red. High-frequency explosives detonated against the estate's outer perimeter gate.
"They're here," Dominic reported over the comlink, his voice strained. "Falcone brought forty men, Boss. They're making a final push."

Vincent looked at Isabelle, whose face was pale with sweat and pain as another contraction ripped through her body. She looked at him with sheer terror in her eyes. "Vincent... don't leave me!"
Vincent took her face in both of his hands, kissing her forehead deeply. "I am going to end this once and for all, Isabelle. I will be back before our children take their first breath. Trust me."
