Chapter 10 - A Horizon of Light
Two years later.
The grand courtyard of the Moretti estate—once a place of cold stone, concrete barriers, and armed guards—had been completely transformed. Bright green lawns stretched across the grounds, filled with blooming rose bushes, fountains, and a grand wooden playground.
Laughter filled the afternoon air.
Two toddlers—a handsome little boy with Vincent’s dark hair and sharp eyes, and a beautiful little girl with Isabelle’s golden curls and gentle smile—chased a golden retriever across the grass.
"Leo! Julia! Don't run too fast!" Isabelle called out with a joyful laugh, sitting under a shady pergola surrounded by close friends and family, including a retired Dr. Harrison and a smiling Dominic, who now ran the family's legitimate security firm.
Vincent walked out from the main house, wearing a casual linen shirt and slacks, holding two glasses of fresh lemonade. The cold, terrifying mob boss was nowhere to be seen; in his place stood a devoted husband and father whose face radiated warmth and contentment.
He handed a glass to Isabelle and sat down beside her, pulling her close against his side.
They watched together as their children played freely in the sunlight, completely untouched by the darkness of the past.
"Look at them," Isabelle whispered softly, leaning her head against Vincent’s chest, listening to the calm, steady rhythm of his heart. "Sometimes I still think back to that flickering neon sign at the diner... how terrified I was."
Vincent wrapped his arm securely around her, kissing the top of her head.

"That night was a nightmare, my love," Vincent murmured, looking out at their children with a proud, loving smile. "But it brought me to you. It brought us our family. It was the night our lives truly began."
As the golden sun began its slow descent over the horizon, casting a warm, everlasting light over the estate, Isabelle and Vincent held each other tight—forever bound by love, healed from the past, and looking forward to a bright and peaceful future together.
