Chapter 7 - Boardroom Execution

The corporate headquarters of Albright Global Enterprises sat on the top three floors of a towering glass skyscraper on Wilshire Boulevard.

At 7:45 AM, the atmosphere inside the executive suite was pure chaos.

News trucks were parked three-deep along the street below. Stock tickers showed the company’s share price crashing by nearly forty percent as international markets reacted to the viral video of the charity gala and news of federal investigations.

Inside the grand board room, fourteen senior board members—billionaire investors, venture capitalists, and corporate lawyers—sat around a twenty-foot oval glass table, arguing loudly over coffee and tablet reports.

At 7:55 AM, the heavy double doors opened.

Christopher stepped inside.

He was wearing a fresh suit, but no amount of expensive tailoring could hide the dark circles under his hollow eyes or the tremor in his hands. He looked like a condemned man walking up the steps to the gallows.

"Gentlemen," Christopher began, standing at the head of the table and trying to summon his old authoritative tone. "I know the news media has created a circus over the last twelve hours. But I assure you, this is a personal family dispute concocted by my unstable wife and my misguided son. My legal team is handling it—"

"Save it, Christopher," barked Arthur Pendelton, the eighty-year-old lead independent director who controlled twelve percent of company stock. "The SEC issued a formal subpoena an hour ago. Federal prosecutors have frozen our secondary trading accounts. The company is bleeding fifty million dollars an hour!"

"I am still the CEO and Chairman of this board!" Christopher shouted, slamming his hand onto the glass table. "You cannot remove me without a two-thirds majority vote of Class-A voting shares! And I hold forty-five percent!"

"Correction, Christopher," a smooth, calm voice called out from the doorway. "You used to hold forty-five percent."

The room fell quiet.

I walked into the boardroom.

I wore a sharply tailored crimson power suit with sharp shoulder pads, dark heels, and my late father’s gold signet ring on my right hand. Behind me walked Luke, carrying a thick stack of blue legal binders, accompanied by three senior partners from Gibson Dunn, the top corporate law firm in the country.

Christopher sneered, though his eyes betrayed his panic. "Vivian? You have no standing here! You’re not a board member!"

"Read the room, Christopher," I said softly, taking a seat at the far end of the table directly opposite him.

My lead attorney, Mr. Harrison, stepped forward and placed a blue binder in front of every single board member.

"Gentlemen," Mr. Harrison announced, "fifteen years ago, when Vance Enterprises merged with Albright Global, Mrs. Albright’s father, Thomas Vance, instituted a irrevocable clause in the founding charter. Clause 14-B states that if the CEO engages in criminal moral turpitude or unauthorized conversion of company assets exceeding ten million dollars, all voting rights associated with the founder's trust immediately revert to Thomas Vance's direct blood heir."

Mr. Harrison pulled a certified court document from his briefcase.

"As of 6:00 AM this morning, the Superior Court of California verified that Christopher Albright has misappropriated over sixty-eight million dollars from the Vance Trust," Mr. Harrison continued. "Therefore, Christopher’s forty-five percent voting share has been legally transferred back to Mrs. Vivian Vance-Albright."

Christopher’s face turned white as snow. He gripped the edge of the table, struggling to breathe. "No... no, that’s impossible! That clause expired!"

"It never expired, Father," Luke spoke up, sitting right beside me. "And to make sure we had an absolute absolute majority... I used my private investment firm, Aegis Capital, to acquire an additional eighteen percent of circulating Class-A shares during last night’s market panic."

Luke looked up at his father with cold precision.

"My mother and I now control sixty-three percent of the total voting power of Albright Global Enterprises," Luke declared.

Arthur Pendelton immediately raised his hand. "I move for an immediate vote to remove Christopher Albright as Chief Executive Officer, Chairman of the Board, and officer of this corporation, effective immediately!"

"Seconded!" shouted four board members simultaneously.

"All in favor?" Arthur asked.

Every single hand at the table went up—except Christopher’s.

May you like

I raised my hand last, looking directly into my husband's eyes.

"Motion passed unanimously," Arthur declared, knocking his wooden gavel against the glass table. "Security, please escort Mr. Albright out of the building."
