Chapter 10 - The True Heir

Six months later.

The summer evening air in Beverly Hills was crisp and clear.

The Vance-Albright Global Headquarters—now officially renamed Vance Global Enterprises—was hosting its inaugural relaunch gala at the newly renovated St. Regis Ballroom.

The room was twice as radiant as it had been six months ago. Four hundred international business leaders, diplomats, and tech titans gathered under the glowing chandeliers, sipping fine champagne and celebrating the ethical restructuring of one of California’s largest corporate empires.

I stood on the main stage, wearing an off-the-shoulder emerald green gown. My late grandmother’s gold bracelet gleamed brightly on my right wrist, catching the stage lights.

"Ladies and gentlemen," I spoke into the podium microphone, my voice steady and warm. "Six months ago, this company faced its darkest hour. But truth has a way of rising to the surface, no matter how deep people try to bury it."

Applause swept through the room.

"Tonight, Vance Global Enterprises is announcing a twenty-million-dollar endowment to establish the Thomas Vance Ethics in Finance Institute," I continued. "And to lead our company into the next generation of technological innovation, I am proud to turn the podium over to our newly appointed Chief Strategy Officer."

I stepped aside, extending my hand toward the wings of the stage.

"Please welcome... Luke Vance."

The ballroom erupted into deafening applause.

Luke walked out onto the stage wearing a charcoal three-piece suit. At eighteen years old, he carried himself with an effortless authority that captivated every titan of industry in the room.

He stood behind the podium, adjusting the microphone, looking out at the crowd with calm, brilliant gray eyes.

"Thank you," Luke said softly, waiting for the applause to die down. "When my grandfather founded this firm, he believed that true wealth isn't measured by what you take from others, but by what you build that outlasts you."

I watched my son from the side of the stage, my heart swelling with a pride so deep it brought sweet tears to my eyes.

Luke continued his speech, laying out a revolutionary corporate strategy that would double the company’s valuation within two years. Investors in the audience were taking notes frantically, amazed by the sheer intellect of the young heir.

Beside me in the VIP wing stood Mrs. Higgins, wearing a beautiful navy dress I had bought her for the occasion, dabbing her eyes with a lace handkerchief.

"Your father would be so proud of him, Mrs. Vance," Mrs. Higgins whispered softly.

"He would," I smiled, wrapping my arm gently around Mrs. Higgins’ shoulders. "He would."
