Chapter 10 - The Horizon of Sterling Global

A year after the night of the poisoned cake, the glittering skyline of Manhattan stretched out endlessly beneath the floor-to-ceiling windows of Alexander’s executive office.

The city was alive, pulsing with light and motion, indifferent to the fragile dramas played out within its towers. But inside Sterling Global, everything had changed.

Gone were the cold, transactional arrangements, the superficial elegance of high-society partners who wore masks of gold while concealing daggers of poison. In their place stood a renewed culture of absolute transparency, genuine loyalty, and unwavering integrity.

Alexander stood by the glass, holding a crystal glass of sparkling water, watching the sun set in a brilliant blaze of amber and violet over the Hudson River.

His phone rested silently on the oak desk behind him. He didn't need to check the stock tickers or the global acquisitions right this second. Downstairs, in the private gallery of the building, Maya’s first official art exhibition was opening—a vibrant, breathtaking collection of paintings depicting the resilience of ordinary people surviving the winter streets of New York.

The door to his office opened quietly.

Marcus stepped in, offering a respectful nod. “The gallery is packed, boss. The critics are calling Maya’s work a masterpiece. And her mother is doing wonderfully.”

Alexander turned around, a calm, contented smile touching his lips.

“Good,” Alexander said, setting his glass down. “Let’s go down. It’s time we support our favorite artist.”

As he walked out of the office and into the bright, open hallways of his empire, Alexander Sterling knew that his true fortune had never been measured in buildings, stocks, or gold. It was measured in the people who stood by you when the night was darkest—and the brave little girl who had walked through a snowstorm just to save a stranger’s life.
