Chapter 7 - The Unspoken Bond

Three weeks later.
The Moretti estate in Westchester had been completely restored, fortified with even higher security protocols, and filled with light.
It was a soft Sunday afternoon. The lawn was bright green, and the air smelled of sweet summer grass and blooming jasmine.
On the grand patio, a small, intimate family gathering was taking place.
Elena sat at a white wrought-iron table, wearing a simple pale yellow sundress. She watched with a quiet, blissful smile as Alessandro—the feared billionaire who had once struck terror into the hearts of Wall Street—was currently sitting on the grass in his tailored trousers, allowing three-year-old Emma to place a ring of yellow daisies on top of his immaculate dark hair.
“You look very handsome, Daddy,” Emma declared proudly, clapping her small hands.
Alessandro didn't adjust his hair. He didn't care if a photo of him in a flower crown ended up on the cover of Forbes. He simply smiled, picking Emma up and tossing her gently into the air, making her squeal with pure delight.
“Anything for my princess,” Alessandro laughed, catching her securely and kissing her cheek.
He set Emma down on her small tricycle, watching her ride happily down the paved garden path toward the fountain where Marcus was quietly watching over her.
Alessandro walked up the terrace steps, joining Elena at the table. He reached across the linen tablecloth, taking her hand in his, lacing his fingers through hers.
“You’re quiet today,” Alessandro noted softly.
“I was just thinking,” Elena murmured, looking into his deep blue eyes. “A month ago, I was scrubbing the stairs in this house, praying I’d have enough money for Emma’s shoes. Today… I feel like I’m living in a dream I’m afraid to wake up from.”
“It’s not a dream, Elena,” Alessandro assured her, bringing her hand to his lips and pressing a soft, lingering kiss against her knuckles. “This is our life. The life that was stolen from us three years ago.”
Elena looked down at their joined hands. “What happens now, Alessandro? Lorenzo is in a federal supermax facility awaiting trial. Vanessa is facing twenty years. The company is secure. What happens to us?”
Alessandro stood up, pulling Elena gently out of her chair. He guided her toward the edge of the terrace overlooking the vast, beautiful estate.
“Three years ago, I fell in love with a girl by Lake Como,” Alessandro revealed softly, his voice rich with raw, undivided emotion. “I lost her because I was weak, because I let snakes creep into my house. I swore to myself that if God ever gave me a second chance, I would build a fortress around her that no evil in this world could breach.”
He reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out a small velvet box.
Elena’s breath caught in her throat. Her eyes widened.
Alessandro sank down onto one knee on the sunlit terrace.
He opened the box, revealing a magnificent, flawless ten-carat cushion-cut blue diamond ring, surrounded by a halo of micro-pave white diamonds—a jewel that matched the exact color of their daughter’s eyes.
“Elena Vale,” Alessandro said, his voice trembling slightly with genuine emotion. “You protected my child when I wasn't there. You brought light back into a house that was dark for three years. You saved my life in the storm. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife, my queen, and the undisputed matriarch of the Moretti family?”
Elena covered her mouth with both hands, tears of pure joy streaming down her face.
She looked at the man who had fought through shadows, blood, and deceit to bring her out of the dark. She looked at their beautiful daughter laughing by the fountain in the garden.

“Yes,” Elena sobbed happily. “Yes, Alessandro! A thousand times yes!”
Alessandro stood up, sliding the breathtaking ring onto her finger. He pulled her into his arms, dipping her back slightly as he pressed his lips against hers in a passionate, deep kiss that erased every nightmare, every tear, and every night spent in the dark.
