Chapter 10 - The Moretti Legacy

One year later. August 2026.

The sun was setting over Lake Como, Italy, casting brilliant ribbons of gold, violet, and crimson across the crystal-clear waters surrounding the private Moretti Villa.

On the wide marble terrace overlooking the lake, a grand celebration was taking place.

Soft Italian opera played from hidden speakers. Long tables were covered in white linen, fine silver, fresh grapes, and vintage wines from the family’s private vineyards in Tuscany.

Four-year-old Emma was running across the lush grass, wearing a pale blue dress, giggling as she played tag with Marcus’s young son under the shade of ancient olive trees.

Near the edge of the stone balcony, Elena stood leaning back against Alessandro’s broad chest.

She was glowing—not just with happiness, but with the radiant beauty of a woman who was three months pregnant with their second child.

Alessandro had his arms wrapped securely around her waist, his hands resting gently over the small, real bump beneath her soft silk dress.

“Are you happy, my queen?” Alessandro whispered into her hair, kissing her neck softly.

Elena rested her head back against his shoulder, letting out a long, peaceful sigh.

“I’m more than happy, Alessandro,” she murmured, placing her hands over his. “A year ago, I was terrified every time the front door opened. I thought the world was full of shadows.”

“And now?”

Elena turned in his arms, looking up into those brilliant blue eyes that had once intimidated her, but now offered her endless warmth, devotion, and safety.

“Now I know that no matter how dark the shadow is,” Elena smiled softly, touching his cheek, “the light always wins if you’re brave enough to fight for it.”

Alessandro smiled—that rare, genuine smile that belonged solely to her and their children. He reached down, picking up a small glass of sparkling apple cider from a passing server, handing it to her while holding his own glass of champagne.

He raised his glass toward the lake, toward their playing children, toward the endless bright future stretched out before them.

“To the truth,” Alessandro toasted softly, his eyes burning with eternal love.

Elena touched her glass against his, the crystal ringing clearly in the quiet evening air.

“To the family,” Elena answered.

Down on the grass, little Emma looked up at the balcony, saw her mother and father kissing against the setting sun, and let out a bright, bell-like laugh that drifted across the quiet waters of Lake Como—a sound that would ring through the Moretti dynasty for generations to come.
