Chapter 8 - The Empire Restored

Six months later. February 2026.
The Cathedral of St. Patrick in Manhattan was decorated with fifty thousand white roses, burning silver candles, and gold ribbing that stretched all the way to the soaring arched ceiling.
Outside, Fifth Avenue was closed off by NYPD motorcades. Thousands of spectators and international news crews lined the streets, holding banners and cameras, eager to witness what the media was calling "The Wedding of the Century."
Inside the cathedral, the front pews were filled with world leaders, supreme court justices, foreign royalty, and elite business titans.
At the altar stood Alessandro Moretti.
He looked impossibly handsome in a midnight-black velvet tuxedo, a white rose pinned to his lapel, his stance proud and commanding. Standing beside him as his ring bearer was three-year-old Emma, wearing a tiny white lace dress and a golden bracelet engraved with the Moretti crest—the very same bracelet that had brought her father back to her.
The grand organ boomed through the high stone arches, its powerful melody filling every corner of the vast sanctuary.
The heavy mahogany doors at the rear of the cathedral swung open.
A collective gasp tore through the congregation.
Elena Vale walked down the aisle on the arm of the retired Supreme Court Chief Justice who had taken her under his protection during the trial against Lorenzo.
Elena was breathtaking.
She wore a custom royal wedding gown of ivory silk and hand-stitched French lace, featuring a dramatic ten-foot train that swept gracefully over the red carpet. A delicate diamond tiara sparkled on her chestnut hair, securing a sheer veil that floated behind her like mist.
She did not look like a former housekeeper. She looked like a empress returning to claim her throne.
Alessandro watched her approach, his dark eyes filled with undisguised adoration and fierce, possessive pride.
When she reached the altar, the judge placed her hand in Alessandro’s.
Their hands locked together—warm, strong, unbreakable.
“You look like an angel,” Alessandro whispered to her, his voice meant for her ears alone.
“I’m no angel,” Elena smiled back, her eyes shining with pure happiness. “I’m a Moretti.”
The Cardinal presided over the ceremony, his voice booming through the cathedral as he recited the sacred vows.
“Do you, Alessandro Nicholas Moretti, take Elena Marie Vale to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, till death do you part?”
“I do,” Alessandro declared firmly, his voice echoing off the stained-glass windows.
“And do you, Elena Marie Vale, take Alessandro Nicholas Moretti to be your lawfully wedded husband?”
“I do,” Elena said softly, proudly.
“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife,” the Cardinal announced, smiling broadly. “What God has joined together, let no man put asunder. You may kiss the bride.”
Alessandro didn't wait a second.
He stepped forward, cupping Elena’s face in his hands, and lifted her sheer veil. He pulled her into a deep, tender, lingering kiss that brought the entire cathedral to its feet in a thunderous standing ovation!
Guests cheered, applause roared through the grand stone arches, and news cameras flashed thousands of white lights across the sanctuary.

Alessandro broke the kiss, keeping his arm locked firmly around Elena’s waist as he scooped up little Emma with his other arm.
Together, the three of them turned to face the world—not as broken survivors of a dark conspiracy, but as an ironclad family that could never be broken again.
