Chapter 6 - The Freezing of the Empire

While chaos reigned on the third floor of Sanquhar Clinic, the legal tsunami engineered by Attorney Dawson struck the rest of Adrian’s life with surgical brutality.

By 2:00 PM, notice of default had been served across all of Adrian’s remaining business accounts. The Park Avenue penthouse—which Chloe had bragged about—was formally slapped with a federal asset-freezing injunction. Marcus Vance, the actual developer and biological father of Chloe’s unborn child, had been quietly notified by his own legal team that an entangled web of corporate fraud, unauthorized fund-siphoning, and fraudulent lien applications linked to Adrian Castillo threatened to implicate his own development projects.

Marcus moved with ruthless corporate efficiency. Within two hours, Chloe was not only evicted from the luxury suite by building security, but she was also served with a restraining order prohibiting her from approaching Marcus or his properties, cutting off her lifeline entirely.

Left stranded in the clinic lobby with her designer bags piled around her feet, Chloe watched her glittering future evaporate into the Cedar Rapids-level reality she had tried so desperately to escape.

Meanwhile, Adrian stumbled out of the hospital elevators onto Park Avenue just as a light afternoon drizzle began to fall. He pulled out his phone, his hands shaking so violently he could barely unlock the screen. He dialed his corporate office.

“Mr. Castillo’s office,” a cold, unfamiliar voice answered.

“Karen? Where is everyone? Why didn’t my assistant pick up?” Adrian barked, desperate for a foothold.

“Mr. Castillo, this is the liquidation receiver appointed by the New York Supreme Court,” the voice replied evenly. “All corporate assets, electronic communications, and physical offices of Castillo Consulting have been seized under court order pursuant to Docket No. 8849-2026. You are legally barred from accessing company premises or accounts effective immediately.”

The phone slipped from Adrian’s numb fingers, clattering loudly against the wet concrete of Park Avenue before being crushed beneath the tire of a passing black cab.

He stood frozen in the rain, his designer suit soaking through, his hair plastered to his forehead. He had no money, no home, no company, no family respect, and no mistress. In his obsessive quest to cast off the woman who had quietly held his life together for a decade, he had engineered his own absolute destruction.
