Chapter 7 - The Boardroom Execution

At 7:55 AM, the glass-and-steel boardroom on the 50th floor of Sterling Enterprises was packed with sixteen of the most powerful corporate board members in the country.

Victoria Sterling sat at the head of the long oak table, dressed in a royal blue suit, her hair perfectly styled, holding a gold pen. She looked calm, poised, and entirely in control—the picture of an untouchable billionaire matriarch.

She had spent the last six hours calling her loyalists on the board, spinning a narrative that Alexander had suffered a severe nervous breakdown at her party due to stress and was currently unfit to lead the company.

“Thank you all for coming on such short notice,” Victoria announced smoothly, her voice echoing through the silent room. “As you know, my son Alexander has been carrying an immense burden since his wife’s departure three years ago. Last night, he suffered a tragic psychological episode. For the protection of Sterling Enterprises and our shareholders, I am motioning for a vote to temporarily transfer executive CEO authority to me.”

Nervous whispers broke out among the board members. Several nodded in agreement, holding proxy voting sheets.

“Are there any objections?” Victoria asked, a victorious smile touching her lips.

BANG!

The double doors of the boardroom were thrown open with such violent force that the glass panels vibrated!

Alexander walked into the room.

He was dressed in a flawless, custom black three-piece suit, his hair swept back, his posture towering and lethal. Flanking him were four uniformed officers from the NYPD Financial Crimes Division, followed by Julian Reed carrying a thick leather briefcase.

Victoria’s smile froze instantly. Her hand tightened around her gold pen.

“Alexander,” Victoria said, forcing a calm tone. “This is a private executive session. You are out of line—”

“Take your seat, Victoria,” Alexander commanded, his voice slicing through the room like a broadsword.

He walked to the center of the table, opening Julian’s briefcase, and dumped three hundred pages of forensic bank statements, forged checks, and medical affidavits directly onto the center of the mahogany table.

The paper scattered across the polished wood like white snow.

“What is the meaning of this theatrical nonsense?” Victoria spat, standing up.

“Those are the records of forty million dollars you embezzled from this company over three years, Mother,” Alexander stated clearly, turning to face the board members. “Those are the forged checks you cashed using my daughter’s support fund. And those are the signed affidavits from Dr. Edmund Vale detailing how you paid him two hundred thousand dollars a year to hide my dying wife in an abandoned basement.”

Gasps of horror erupted across the boardroom!

Board members scrambled to pick up the documents, reading the bank transfers, staring at the horrific photos of the Brooklyn basement and the medical charts from St. Jude’s Hospital.

“This is absurd!” Victoria shouted, her composure cracking completely as her face turned ash-grey. “These documents are fabrications! He’s insane! Call security!”

“Security works for me, Victoria,” Alexander said coldly. He pulled a black tablet from his vest and tapped the screen once.

A video feed played on the sixty-inch boardroom display screen.

It showed two moving vans parked outside the Sterling Manor in Connecticut, while team of security guards carried out Victoria’s expensive oil paintings, designer clothes, and jewelry boxes, placing them in evidence storage bags under court order.

“Your personal accounts have been frozen,” Alexander revealed, taking a step toward her. “Your house has been seized by corporate assets. Your power of attorney is revoked. And three minutes ago, the board voted unanimously by electronic proxy to remove you from every position in Sterling Enterprises.”

Victoria trembled violently. She looked around the table at the board members—men and women who had kissed her ring for thirty years—and saw only disgust, horror, and cold rejection in their eyes.

The lead NYPD detective stepped forward, pulling a pair of steel handcuffs from his belt.

“Victoria Sterling,” the detective said loudly. “You are under arrest for grand larceny, corporate fraud, child endangerment, and felony extortion. You have the right to remain silent.”

CLICK-CLACK.

The steel cuffs snapped around Victoria’s wrists over her royal blue suit.

“Alexander!” Victoria screamed as the officers grabbed her arms, dragging her away from the table. “I am your mother! I built you! You can’t do this to me! You are a Sterling!”

May you like

Alexander looked at her with pure, absolute indifference.

“My daughter ate out of a dumpster because of you,” Alexander said softly. “You are no mother of mine.”
