Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Family

Six months later.
Early June in upstate New York was a paradise of blooming flowers, green hills, and endless blue skies.
The grand gardens of the Volkov estate were dressed in white roses, silk drapes, and golden ribbons. The orchestra played a soft, romantic melody that floated over the two hundred guests seated along the lawn—a gathering of world leaders, diplomats, business moguls, and family friends.
Today was not a day of mafia business. Today was a celebration of a rebirth.
At the altar overlooking the sparkling lake stood Damon Volkov. He was dressed in a pristine black tuxedo, looking impeccably handsome, his eyes fixed entirely on the top of the aisle.
Beside him stood Mateo, dressed in a matching mini-tuxedo, looking proud and sharp, holding the ring velvet pillow.
The music shifted into a majestic march.
Luz, wearing a fluffy white flower-girl dress with a crown of yellow daisies in her hair, walked down the aisle first, scattering pink rose petals with a grand, enthusiastic swing of her arms that made the crowd laugh warmly.
Then came the bride.
Camila walked slowly down the runner. She wore an exquisite, custom-fitted white lace gown with a long flowing train that caught the summer breeze. In her hands, she held a bouquet of white lilies. Her dark hair was pinned back elegantly, and her eyes shone with an inner light that dazzled everyone present.
Damon’s breath caught in his throat. He watched her approach, his chest aching with an overwhelming love that felt entirely boundless.
When she reached the altar, Damon stepped forward, taking her hand. His grip was warm, strong, and steady.
"You are breathtaking," he whispered.
"You look pretty good yourself, Boss," she teased softly, her eyes twinkling.
The priest began the ceremony, but the words echoed like a sweet background chorus. They both knew their vows had already been written in blood, forged in the snow of Madison Avenue, and proven in the quiet, healing days that followed.
"Damon Volkov," the priest declared. "Do you take Camila Reyes to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, till death do you part?"
Damon looked deep into Camila’s eyes, his thumb gently caressing her knuckles. "With every beat of my heart, I do."
"And do you, Camila Reyes, take Damon Volkov to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
Camila smiled, a tear of pure joy slipping down her cheek. "I do."
"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife again. You may kiss the bride."
Damon pulled Camila into his arms, lifting her slightly off her feet as he kissed her with all the passion, devotion, and fire in his soul. The crowd erupted into thunderous applause, cheers, and celebration.
Mateo and Luz cheered, running up to wrap their arms around their parents' legs.
Damon broke the kiss, laughing warmly as he scooped both twins into his arms, while keeping his arm securely wrapped around Camila’s waist.

They stood together at the edge of the lake—a sovereign family, whole, unbroken, and surrounded by light.
The cold was gone forever. The darkness had lost its grip. And under the bright summer sun, the Volkov family reigned in absolute, everlasting peace.
