Chapter 10 - Sunrise
Eighteen Months Later
The grand ballroom of the Carter estate had never looked so alive.
Twinkling fairy lights hung from the crystal chandeliers, and white roses—Clara’s favorite flowers, placed in honor of her memory—adorned every table. Music filled the air, vibrant and sweet, as dozens of close friends and loved ones gathered together.
At the center of the room, Daniel Carter stood in a tailored tuxedo, his eyes locked on the grand staircase.
Down the stairs walked Elise. She wore an exquisite, simple ivory silk gown that flowed like water around her feet. Her hair was styled in soft waves, and her smile lit up the entire room.
Walking ahead of her, wearing matching pink flower-girl dresses, were two toddler girls with golden curls and bright blue eyes.
Maisie and Rosie, now nearly two years old, were walking proudly down the aisle, dropping flower petals on the rug while giggling hysterically.
When Elise reached the altar, Daniel took her hands in his. His heart was overflowing with a peace he had once believed was impossible.
"We are gathered here today," the officiant began, "to unite two souls who found hope in the darkest of storms, and built a family out of love, resilience, and laughter."
When the time came for the vows, Daniel looked deep into Elise’s eyes.
"Elise," Daniel said, his voice resonant and filled with emotion. "You entered my life at my darkest hour, when I was lost in grief and drowning in silence. You brought laughter back into my home, and you showed me that love isn't something we lose when we lose someone—it is something that grows, heals, and begins again. I promise to cherish you, protect you, and stand by your side for the rest of my days."
Elise wiped a happy tear from her cheek, smiling brightly.
"Daniel," she spoke, her voice ringing clear. "You showed me what true courage looks like. You fought for your family with everything you had, and you allowed me to share in that love. I promise to walk beside you, to fill our home with laughter, and to love you and our girls with all my heart, forever."
"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife," the officiant declared with a broad smile. "You may kiss the bride!"
Daniel pulled Elise close, dipping her gently as he kissed her deeply, amidst thunderous applause and cheers from the guests.

Maisie and Rosie ran over, wrapping their tiny arms around their parents' legs, squealing with pure delight. Daniel lifted both girls into his arms, pulling Elise close into a tight, warm family embrace.
The grand mansion, once a fortress of sorrow and silence, was now filled with warmth, light, and the eternal melody of a family that had survived the storm and stepped into the beautiful, promise-filled sunrise.
