Chapter 7 - The Unraveling

The failed raid on the estate signaled the total collapse of Victoria Moretti and Don Falco's alliance.
Within forty-eight hours, Luchiano unleashed a relentless, surgical counter-offensive across the city. Don Falco’s illegal operations were systematically dismantled by law enforcement using anonymous tips provided by Luchiano’s intelligence team, while Victoria found herself completely cut off from all offshore financial accounts.
Stripped of her money, her allies, and her protection, Victoria attempted to flee the country using a forged passport at JFK Airport.
She didn't make it to her gate.
As she walked through the VIP departure lounge, two men in dark suits stepped into her path. Dominic stood on her right, while Luchiano himself emerged from the shadows of the executive lounge, looking pristine in a charcoal tailored suit.
"Luchiano..." Victoria gasped, backing away until her back hit the glass wall. "You... you can't touch me here! There are security cameras everywhere!"
"I don't need to touch you, Victoria," Luchiano said calmly, stepping closer. He pulled a thick legal document from his breast pocket. "This is a full, irrevocable relinquishment of all parental rights to Mateo Moretti, alongside a confession of your embezzlement scheme."
Victoria sneered through her terror. "And why on earth would I sign that?"
Luchiano leaned down, his voice dropping into a deadly whisper that chilled her blood. "Because if you sign it, you get to board that plane to Europe with five hundred thousand dollars in cash, and you never step foot on American soil again. If you don't sign it... federal agents are standing outside that door waiting to arrest you for grand larceny, treason, and attempted murder of a minor."
Victoria looked toward the terminal doors. Two FBI agents were indeed standing near the security checkpoint, watching her intently.
Realizing she had been completely outmaneuvered, Victoria snatched the pen from Luchiano’s hand, signed her name with trembling fingers, and shoved the paper back into his chest.
"You deserve each other," Victoria spat bitterly, grabbing her designer bag. "You and that pathetic waitress."

Luchiano folded the paper neatly and tucked it into his pocket. "That waitress saved my son's life while you tried to sell it. She is ten times the woman you could ever dream of being."
He turned his back on her, walking out of the terminal without looking back once.
