Chapter 10 - Home at Last

One year later.
The summer sun beamed down over the backyard of the Moretti estate in Westchester.
The once-cold marble fortress was completely unrecognizable. Green grass lawns were covered with colorful playground slides, sandbox toys, and bright beach umbrellas. The sound of children's laughter echoed down the hills.
Sitting on a wide wooden swing beneath a massive oak tree was Amelia. She looked radiant, wearing a simple sundress, cradling a newborn baby girl—little Isabella Rossi Moretti—who was sleeping peacefully against her chest.
Running across the grass was three-year-old Mateo, chasing a golden retriever puppy while kicking a miniature soccer ball.
"Mateo! Don't run too fast near the garden!" Amelia called out with a warm, maternal smile.
"I got it, Mom!" Mateo shouted back proudly, kicking the ball into a small net.
Footsteps sounded on the grass behind the swing. Luchiano stepped out from the terrace, dressed in a comfortable polo shirt and trousers. He set a tray with iced tea and fresh fruit onto a side table, then walked over and sat down beside Amelia on the swing.
He wrapped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her gently against his chest, looking down at his sleeping baby daughter.
"She has your eyes," Luchiano whispered, gently kissing the top of Isabella's soft head.
"And she has your stubborn chin," Amelia giggled softly, leaning her head on his shoulder.
Luchiano looked out across the sunny yard at Mateo, who was now proudly showing Dominic a large rock he had found in the grass. Dominic was laughing, pretending to inspect it with serious professional scrutiny.
"I spoke with the board today," Luchiano said quietly, resting his hand over Amelia’s. "We finalized the transfer of all our port holdings into clean commercial shipping logistics. The transition is complete, Amelia. The old life is gone."
Amelia looked up at him, her hazel eyes shining with deep pride. "I know. I'm so proud of you, Luchiano."
Luchiano leaned down, pressing his lips softly to hers in a tender, lingering kiss filled with peace and contentment.
He looked around at his home, at the vibrant green grass, at his laughing son, his sleeping daughter, and the incredible woman who had saved him from a life of cold darkness.
