Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Circle

The golden hues of autumn gave way to the crisp, sparkling snow of December, transforming the Westchester estate into a quiet winter wonderland.
On Christmas Eve, the house was warm, filled with the scent of pine needles, roasted chestnuts, and vanilla. A massive fir tree towered in the corner of the living room, glittering with silver ornaments and glowing white lights.
Leo sat cross-legged on the plush rug by the fireplace, furiously unwrapping a large wooden train set with the fierce determination of a miniature Adrian Vance, while Naomi sat nearby laughing as she helped him assemble the track.
In the kitchen, Adrian and Camille stood together by the counter, quietly finishing up the holiday dessert preparations.
"Are you sure you don't want me to handle the pie crust?" Adrian asked, holding a bag of flour with a hesitant expression that made Camille laugh out loud.
"Absolutely not," Camille teased, playfully dusting a speck of flour onto the tip of his nose. "Last time you touched baking supplies, the kitchen looked like a crime scene."
Adrian smiled, catching her wrist before she could pull away. He drew her closer against him, the ambient glow of the Christmas tree casting a warm, magical light across the room.
"Merry Christmas, Camille," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion.
"Merry Christmas, Adrian," she replied, resting her head against his chest, listening to the steady, rhythmic beat of his heart—a sound she would never have to live without again.

From across the room, Naomi looked over her shoulder at them, holding up a glass of wine with a knowing, affectionate grin. "Hey, lovebirds! Stop the romantic staring contest or the train tracks are going to get built upside down."
Adrian laughed, shaking his head, before looking down at his wife and his son. The storm had passed, the night of shadows and hospital silence was long gone, and the sunrise they had fought so hard to reach belonged entirely to them.
