Chapter 9 - The Siege

The mansion was under a digital lockdown. Marcus had cut the internet and phone lines, trapping them within the estate, while his men combed the grounds. Julian, nursing a bruised rib and a cut on his temple, led Elena and Rose into the estate’s secure panic room—a space his father had built for his own protection, which Julian had ironically never wanted to use.

"We have two hours before they bypass the biometric locks," Julian said, his voice grim. He was no longer the CEO; he was a man protecting his life's work—his family.

Julian looked at her, his eyes clear for the first time in years. "Because I spent my life building a throne, only to realize it was a grave. I came back to burn it down so that we could build something that actually belongs to us."

They worked in the dark, using an old, analog ham radio Julian had kept as a hobby—the one thing Marcus couldn't track. They broadcasted the evidence of Marcus’s embezzlement and Evelyn’s complicity directly to the SEC and the local press.

As the sun began to rise, the silence of the siege was broken by the sound of sirens. It wasn't the police—it was the federal agents and the media. The trap had been turned inside out. Marcus and Evelyn were taken in handcuffs, their faces broadcast across every news outlet as the architects of a financial catastrophe.
