Chapter 3 - The Stolen Birth Records & The Medical Truth

Dr. Vance walked up to where Andrea stood, placing a protective hand on little Leo’s head before turning to face Marco and Valerie.

“I have kept quiet out of respect for Andrea’s privacy for five years,” Dr. Vance announced, addressing the stunned crowd. “But I will not stand by and allow a pair of desperate swindlers to slander my medical practice and rewrite reality.”

Valerie took another step back, her red heels digging into the soft turf. “Who are you? This is a private family matter!”

“My name is Dr. Evelyn Vance,” she replied coolly. “I am the head of Maternal Medicine at St. Jude’s Hospital. Five years ago, on August twelfth at 4:14 AM, I personally performed an emergency C-section on Andrea to deliver Leo. I held that child seconds after he took his first breath. I signed his birth certificate. Andrea carried him for thirty-nine agonizing weeks through a high-risk pregnancy that nearly cost her life.”

Dr. Vance pulled her smartphone from her purse, tapped the screen a few times, and held it up toward the guests sitting in the front rows—including several high-court judges and corporate executives who knew her professionally.

“Furthermore,” Dr. Vance continued, “as Andrea’s physician, I maintain secure digital records. Here is the ultrasound sequence from week twelve to week thirty-eight, complete with Andrea’s medical ID and thumbprint verification. To suggest that Valerie—a woman who was not even employed by Andrea’s company until eighteen months ago—carried this child is not merely a lie. it is a criminal fabrication.”

The guests erupted into furious chatter. Whispers of disgust and outrage swept across the lawn. Marco’s mother, who had been sitting near the front, covered her face in deep shame, unable to look at her son.

Valerie turned on Marco, her nails digging into his suit sleeve. “You said she didn’t have proof! You said the hospital records were archived and could be replaced if we paid the administration clerk!”

Marco violently shoved Valerie’s hand off his arm. “Shut up, Valerie! Shut your mouth!”

“No, Marco, let her speak,” Andrea said, stepping forward. “I want everyone here to listen to every single word coming out of both of your mouths.”

Andrea reached into her coat pocket and pulled out her own phone. She tapped the screen, activating the mansion’s outdoor surround-sound audio system.

“You thought I was blind, Marco,” Andrea said softly. “You thought because I was busy launching our European line that I didn't notice the missing funds from our joint account, or the secret meetings you were having in my own guest house.”

A static hiss filled the garden speakers, followed by a crystal-clear recording of Marco and Valerie’s voices from three nights prior.
