Chapter 10 - A New Dawn at the Estate
Six months later, the sun shone brightly over the Vance estate in Chicago.
The dark, gloomy atmosphere that had hung over the property for years was completely gone. The old, oppressive mahogany furnishings had been removed, replaced with bright white interiors, open glass skylights, and beautiful gardens filled with blooming white lilies and fresh roses.
Out on the expansive green lawn, little Ethan was running happily, laughing as he chased his new golden retriever puppy.
On the back terrace, Lily stood near the marble railing, wearing a simple, elegant blue dress. She was holding a cup of tea, watching Ethan play with a soft, peaceful smile on her face.
Heavy, familiar footsteps sounded behind her.
Victor stepped out onto the terrace. He had traded his usual stiff business suits for a comfortable grey cashmere sweater. The dark shadows under his eyes had disappeared, replaced by a sense of calm and clarity he hadn't possessed in years.
He walked up behind Lily, placing his hands gently on her shoulders.
"What are you thinking about?" Victor asked softly into her ear.
Lily turned around, looking up into his warm dark eyes. "I was just thinking about how much this place has changed. It finally feels like a home."
"That’s because of you, Lily," Victor said sincerely, taking her hands into his. "You brought light back into this house when it was drowning in darkness. You saved my son. You saved me."
Lily smiled, her cheeks flushing with a delicate pink. "I just did what was right, Victor."
Victor reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small velvet ring box. He opened it, revealing a stunning, custom-designed ring featuring a flawless diamond set inside a gold band carved in the shape of delicate lily petals.
Lily gasped, her hands flying to her lips.
"Lily," Victor said, his voice rich with deep emotion as he looked directly into her eyes. "You came into our lives as a housekeeper, but you became the heart of this family. Ethan adores you, and I... I love you with all my heart. Will you do us the honor of becoming my wife?"
Tears of pure happiness welled up in Lily’s eyes. She looked out at little Ethan, who had stopped playing and was jumping up and down on the grass, shouting, "Say yes, Lily! Say yes!"
Lily laughed through her tears, looking back at Victor.
"Yes, Victor! A thousand times yes!"

Victor smiled, slipping the ring onto her finger before pulling her into his arms and kissing her deeply under the warm afternoon sun.
