Chapter 10 - The Sovereign Family

Six months later. Spring 2026.
The gardens of the Lake Geneva house were blooming with vibrant purple lavender, white roses, and yellow daffodils.
The sound of joyful laughter floated across the lawn.
Ivy and Skye, now healthy, radiant four-year-olds dressed in matching yellow sundresses, were chasing a tiny black Labrador puppy through the soft grass. Skye’s frailness was entirely gone, replaced by endless energy, while Ivy’s quiet vigilance had softened into bright, innocent laughter.
On the wrap-around porch overlooking the lake, Adrian stood behind Claire, his long arms wrapped securely around her waist. His hands rested over her abdomen, where a faint, gentle swell was beginning to show—their third child, due in late autumn.
Claire leaned her back against his broad chest, closing her eyes as the warm spring breeze brushed against her skin, making the silver 'C' pendant around her neck sparkle in the sunlight.
"It feels like a dream, Adrian," Claire murmured, resting her hands over his. "After two years in that cold cabin... I never thought we would have this again."
"It’s not a dream, love," Adrian whispered, leaning down to press a soft kiss against her neck. "It’s our reality. And no one will ever take it from us again."
Down on the grass, Ivy caught the puppy, cradling it in her arms as Skye ran over, cheering happily. Ivy looked up toward the porch, saw her mother and father standing together in the sunshine, and waved her small hand frantically.
"Daddy! Mommy! Look! The puppy caught a butterfly!" Skye yelled.

Adrian smiled—a rare, genuine, beautiful smile that illuminated his dark face.
He took Claire’s hand in his, and together, they stepped down off the porch into the warm sunlight, walking hand-in-hand toward their daughters, leaving the dark shadows of the past behind forever, united in an unbreakable circle of love, loyalty, and sovereign family.
