Chapter 8 - The Exposure
Before Arthur could pull the trigger, a low, guttural roar shook the entire room.
Goliath burst through the double doors. Seeing Arthur threatening his pack, the pitbull didn't hesitate. He launched his hundred-pound frame through the air, hitting Arthur square in the chest.
The gun went flying across the polished floor, discharging harmlessly into the ceiling plaster with a loud bang.
Arthur crashed backward onto the marble floor with Goliath standing directly over him. Goliath’s huge jaws were inches from Arthur’s face, his chest heaving, his dark eyes locked onto the terrified executive.
Arthur screamed in sheer terror, pressing his hands against his face. "Get him off me! Get him off me! I’ll pay you whatever you want!"
"Goliath, hold," Big Mike commanded softly.
Instantly, Goliath stopped moving forward. He didn't bite. He simply placed one massive paw heavily onto Arthur’s sternum, trapping the squirming man beneath him like a beetle under a boot.
Doc rushed over, gently pulling Ellen away from the fight and wrapping a warm blanket around her trembling shoulders. "You're safe now, ma'am. Mia is safe too."
Ellen burst into tears of relief, sinking to her knees. "Mia... my baby... she’s okay?"
"She's safe with state agents," Doc reassured her. "And this monster will never lay a hand on either of you again."
Sparks stepped into the room, holding his phone high, streaming live video to millions of viewers on social media and major news outlets.
"Say hello to the internet, Arthur," Sparks smirked. "Over five hundred thousand people are currently watching you blubber under the paw of the dog you tried to kill."

Outside, the air was suddenly filled with the thumping blades of a State Police helicopter, accompanied by dozens of state cruiser sirens echoing up the driveway. Agent Ramirez stormed into the mansion flanked by heavily armed state troopers.
"Arthur Vance," Ramirez announced, stepping over the shattered glass. "You are under arrest for attempted kidnapping, domestic abuse, witness tampering, and corporate fraud."
